On the 22nd of March 2019, Zimbabwe Gender Commission (ZGC) commemorated the International Women’s Day (IWD) with persons, particularly women, with disabilities. In her opening remarks, the chairperson of the sub-committee on public education and awareness, Commissioner Naome Chimbetete, unpacked the international theme – Think equal, build smart, innovate for change – a theme which seeks to orient societies towards innovative ways to advance gender equality and women empowerment in areas of social protection, access to public services and sustainable infrastructure.
