Commissioners
The Zimbabwe Gender Commission (ZGC) is an independent constitutional commission established in terms of Section 245 of the Constitution of Zimbabwe. Its composition and appointment procedures are governed by the Constitution and the Zimbabwe Gender Commission Act [Chapter 10:31].
The Commission comprises nine Commissioners: a Chairperson, Vice Chairperson and seven others appointed by the President in accordance with the Constitution. The appointment process provides for consultation with the Committee on Standing Rules and Orders, nominations from the Committee and representation of the National Council of Chiefs.
Jigu Katsande
Education

Gender equality area of expertise
Has keen interest in policy analysis, gender stereotypes in the curriculum, school related gender based violence, feminist pedagogies, engaging men in feminism and advocacy and activism
Career summary
Commissioner Jigu Katsande is a teacher educator and curriculum expert. He has taught in schools, teacher education colleges and universities. He has engaged teachers and school authorities on inclusive curriculum development and celebrating diversity. He Chairs the Thematic Working Group on Gender and Health. He is also a member of the Public Education and Information Committee and the Research and Programming Committee.
Angeline Vere
Education
Mrs. Angeline Vere is a registered legal practitioner and a holder of a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) Degree (LLB) from the University of Zimbabwe (UZ), a Masters in Corporate Law (LLM) attained from the University of South Africa (UNISA), a Diploma in Finance and Accounting and an Executive Diploma in Business Administration and several telecommunications and corporate governance qualifications.
Gender Equality Area of Interest
The Commissioner has a keen interest in Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment and in enforcement and investigation of violation of laws pertaining to human rights and gender equality. Mrs. Vere chairs the Commission’s Legal and Investigations Committee and the Thematic Working Group on gender, legal and constitutional rights. She is also a member of the Audit Committee and Thematic Working Group on Gender and Health.
Career summary
Mrs. Vere is the Chief Executive Officer of Telecel Zimbabwe, a mobile network operator in Zimbabwe. Mrs. Vere has vast working experience in the areas of corporate governance, compliance, legal risk management and business management having worked for TelOne, the Broadcasting Authority , the Civil Division of the Attorney General’s Office and prosecution division . She has held various Board positions and is currently a Non-Executive Board Director of Zimplow Holdings.
